Please be careful with your money at Relay Financial (fintech). They can freeze your account without a clear explanation, and it may take months — or longer — to regain access to your funds. I am speaking from personal experience, as this happened to me and my businesses.
I opened several business bank accounts with Relay in mid-2025. At first everything appeared normal. They issued debit cards, accepted deposits, and the accounts functioned properly. After I opened my fifth account, Relay questioned an $8,400 check deposit. I promptly provided documentation and supporting records and even allowed them to contact the payer, a rental agency with whom I had a contract.
Without requesting additional information or attempting to resolve the matter, Relay froze that account and four other unrelated LLC accounts. Altogether, approximately $40,000 was locked.
Their compliance department then began what they called a “review,” which lasted months. During that time I received no meaningful updates. Each time I contacted customer support, I was given the same response: “We are reviewing your request and will notify you by email.” No timeline or explanation was provided.
Relay is a fintech platform, not a traditional bank, and operates differently from a regulated bank relationship. My funds have remained inaccessible while they repeatedly state that their partner bank, Thread Bank in Tennessee, will send checks in the “next batch.” Since December 2025, each batch has passed without my funds being returned.
I have attempted to escalate the issue, including emailing CEO Yoseph West, but have received no response. As of February 16, I still have not received my money.
Because of this situation, I am now pursuing legal action. I strongly urge anyone considering using Relay to fully understand the risks and to be cautious about placing significant funds with them.
